Edupreneurs’ final capacity building workshop

The Edupreneurs project offers its final capacity building workshop:

Introduction to Flipped Classroom

In this workshop, we will implement Flipped Classroom methodology to address the main differences between traditional and flipped classrooms, as well as the conceptual understanding of how flipped classroom is a transition phase of changing teaching practices from a traditional approach toward flipped learning.

After implementing Flipped Classroom, most teachers report both increasing the success rate of their students in the course subject, as well as enjoying more their teaching. Ultimately, we would like that staff experience these results.

The website Good News from Finland just posted an interview about my working life in Finland. The series of interviews “From start to Finnish” highlights foreigners’ work experiences. It covers how we have found jobs, overcome challenges in the process, and found the right place to be in Finland. In the interview, I share with the public the different places I worked before Eduix and how Eduix has been a great work place for me.

The Edupreneurs launch event

The Project Edupreneurs: Networking and Empowering Education Enterpreneurs towards a resilient edtech ecosystem in Southern Africa, funded by the Southern Africa Innovation Support (SAIS) 2, was successfully launched on 31st March 2021. The project is developed by the consortium between Eduix, Glowdom and the Namibian Business Innovation Institution (NBII). Over 120 participants from Namibia, Botswana, South Africa, Zambia, and Finland registered to the event and will be contacted for further developments.

The event counted on the participation of brilliant keynote speakers and panelists in the morning and afternoon. The event finished with the needs assessment workshop, in which we gathered personal and professional experiences of the stakeholders regarding their challenges and expectations for building a resilient education business ecosystem in the Southern Africa region.

Project stakeholders will benefit from engaging in the project

… by getting opportunities to network with relevant education business organizations and promote their services and products, as well as by receiving capacity building on business innovation and digital transformation. On the other hand, the stakeholders have the crucial role of providing us relevant information about their needs and challenges for thriving in critical situations, so we can tailor the project outcomes to their specific situation.

Helping to implement Flipped Classroom at a Finnish University

In 2019, I was responsible to design a self-study course and its materials about Flipped Classroom targeted to the international staff of the University of Eastern Finland. That was one of the most important professional learning experiences I’ve had over here. I didn’t know much about this pedagogical approach. I have attended a course whose teacher used the Flipped Classroom methodology. The course was about Quantitative Methods in research and it was, indeed, a very productive learning experience. However, beyond that punctual experience, I did not know much.

When I got the task to design a course and its materials about Flipped Classroom to the international staff of the University, I got excited about how much I had to learn and apply it. And it was just an amazing experience of learning not only about a pedagogical method, but also about institutional curriculum reform, mindset transformation, and pedagogical change.
